October update + Supernova Chase Update

October was a pretty solid month, had the best results since I've started playing poker professionally in both volumes and profits. However, I was not very satisfied with my poker ethic. More than 70% of my volume and profits were from the first 11 days of the month, and I slacked off afterwards due to a long break even stretch//downswings instead of playing through it like a real pro. I really need to develop a strong work ethic so I can just grind through these rough patches a bit faster and make a lot more cheese. So in order to train my weakness ( my mentality toward swings), I've decided to stick to a schedule with less variance so I could build up my confidence. I'm going to be grinding mainly the 3.30$+R//12$ 180s in the morning with very few 36$ 180s and the $2//12$ 180 + 6$/45 at night. By sticking to the games that I'm pretty sure I'm beating and putting in tons of volumes day after day, I should be able to avoid major swings and the long break even stretch. Hopefully I can get about 5000 games in with this new schedule along with some solid profits.

Now onto my quest to Supernova. I've set my mind on reaching Supernova at around mid October after I realized how big of a difference it will make in terms of rakeback. Supernova gives a 30.8 % rakeback compare to platinum stars 22%, thats almost 9% more! It might not sound like its a lot but a 9% increase in my rakeback for my regular month would be around 250-300$, it's enough to pay for half of my rent! Anyways, I've earned close to 20k Vpp this month which put me at about 53k Vpps total for this year. In order to reach Supernova, I need 47k Vpps more by the end of the year. I'm going to work very hard during November and try to earned 27k Vpps so I can have some breathing room during December. In order to earn 27k Vpps playing the 180s I will need about 5000-6000 games so I will have no time to slack off, will work my ass off because it will well worth it when I hit that Supernova status with the Red stars =).

Overall it was a pretty fun month, JPeazy's friend Josh came in town to visit and stayed with us for the last week of October. He's trying out the real grinder lifestyle out here in Vegas just to see if he can make it and might decide to move out here with us next year, I'm looking forward to it and will need to start looking for a house with 3-4 bedrooms if Josh does decide to come back for good. It was also Snowman's birthday on the 30th so we celebrated it Vegas style by hitting the Clubs at the Palms, it was pretty crazy and everybody had a blast. I'm looking forward to another good month!

Gl at the tables ya'll.

SuperNova

The title pretty much says it all, I've decided to go for Supernova this year and WILL most definitely reach it. I started a thread on 2p2 just to motivate myself and keep myself on track. I'm 53k Vpp short with a little more than 2 months to go. Going to try to finish the month off strong by getting another 10k vpp or so before November so I can have some breathing room. The 30% rakeback would be really nice once I get those Red stars, will definitely help me with my expenses out here in Vegas.

Wake up call

To be honest, I'm pretty disappointed at myself. Once again I failed to reach my goals and have nobody to blame but myself. I kept setting these goals because I thought they will motivate me, but in reality, I gotta motivate myself. I'm glad that I decided to stay out here in Vegas on my own instead of going back home, it made me realize what a mess I am in life. I've not always been like this, I use to be pretty hardworking and follow through with my goals. I guess sometime during my college yrs I became lazy and unmotivated, which explains a lot.

No more setting goals and all that crap this month, I'm just gonna grind my ass off. Have a small prop bet with Vertek and Fried Liver on who can make the most profit in sng this month so hopefully I can take that down for some extra cheese. I started this month with strong volume and results and I will make it last. Shipped a small 16$ turbo mtt tonight so I was pretty happy about that. I haven't had a mtt win in a while so it felt really good, even though its just a small one. I'm pretty fortunate to have Jpeazy and Snowman living with me because they are both very discipline grinders, and it really helps me to grind in this environment.

Gl at the tables everyone.

August Update & September goals

First things first, I failed to reach the goals I made last month, every single one of them. I'm very disappointed at myself and have absolutely no excuses, I messed up. I was lazy and unmotivated and if I don't change my attitude soon, I wont be able to make it as a professional poker player.

Failed Goals:

1.) Only played around 1.2k games on stars, 500 short of my goal.
2.) Didnt do p90x....
3.) Only played 200 games on Tilt ( which was my side project ), wayyy short here but 1k was probably not very realistic.
4.) Only generated around 4k profit instead of 6k.

New Goals for September:

1.) 1750 games on Stars. ( Same as last month )
2.) Work out as much as I can.. ( trying to be realistic here )
3.) 750 Games On Tilt
4.) 5k Profit.

Will try my hardest to reach all these goals this month.

Now onto non poker related things. The Rainman Poker mansion is officially done for now, there were only 4 of us left ( 5 including channing ) by the end of August and the rent + utilities were about 8k//Month. Nick decided that it was not worth it and we all moved out. The remaining students ( myself, jp, and Snowman ) moved into a two bedroom apartment near Strip while Nick and Channing also got one for themselves in the same apartment complex. Moving was extremely tiring and hopefully I dont have to do that again any time soon. I Finally got the grind station and internet set up today and I'm as motivated as ever to get started on the grind. Now that I have bills to pay , I gotta work extra hard to maintain my current lifestyle. I hope I can make it because I really don't want to move back home, I love being out on my own and in order to keep doing that, I must be financially successful. Anyways, wish me LUCK!

Cheers.

End of July Update

So July is over and just giving a quick update.

I went from grinding 2$//180 full time to grinding the 12//180s halfway through the month and so far I've been doing pretty well in these. But in about 20 days I've only managed to get in 906 games of 12//180s because of my shallow bankroll and my lack of ability to deal with downswing ( rough patches). Its tough to grind 100+ games a day when the swings are 1000$+, some days I would brick 40 games straight and be discourage to play anymore that day.

Overall I'm not very satisfied with my result this month because I feel like I could be doing a lot better, considering poker is now my full time job, playing 900 games in 20 days just doesnt cut it. There will be some changes in August, will try to put it more volume and also try some things on the side. On top of poker, I would also like to get back on track with my work out routine. Looking forward to this month!

Goals:
1.) play 1750 games of 12//180
2.) Restart p90x and this time follow through.
3.) Side project ( 1000 games )
4.) 6k profit overall.
