2010 in Review//2011 Goals

Instead of taking just one week off I took two! It was just too comfortable being back home in Cali. Going to do a quick 2010 Review since everyone seems to be doing it.

2010 was decent for me poker wise. I met a lot of people by moving out to Vegas in July and made a lot of friends in the poker world. I haven't really been a professional poker player for that long ( started June 2010 ) so I can't really tell if I'm successful, but I did reach supernova on pokerstars and made decent profit on the way so I'm pretty satisfied with what I've accomplished. At the end of this month, the entire Vegas thing will be coming to an end. I will be moving back to L.A. area while my roommate JPeazy will be moving to somewhere in the central Cali. This entire Vegas experience has helped me tremendously and I hope I can apply what I learned out here back home and continue to make money through poker.

Some of my poker goals for 2011 will be:

1.) Average 5k games per month. (60k games total)
2.) Earn 300k vpps for the year.
3.) Be on SS leader board
4.) play a few major live tournaments.
5.) meet more poker players!
6.) maybe pick up a few stakees?

Looking forward to a big 2011! gl at the tables all.

October update + Supernova Chase Update

October was a pretty solid month, had the best results since I've started playing poker professionally in both volumes and profits. However, I was not very satisfied with my poker ethic. More than 70% of my volume and profits were from the first 11 days of the month, and I slacked off afterwards due to a long break even stretch//downswings instead of playing through it like a real pro. I really need to develop a strong work ethic so I can just grind through these rough patches a bit faster and make a lot more cheese. So in order to train my weakness ( my mentality toward swings), I've decided to stick to a schedule with less variance so I could build up my confidence. I'm going to be grinding mainly the 3.30$+R//12$ 180s in the morning with very few 36$ 180s and the $2//12$ 180 + 6$/45 at night. By sticking to the games that I'm pretty sure I'm beating and putting in tons of volumes day after day, I should be able to avoid major swings and the long break even stretch. Hopefully I can get about 5000 games in with this new schedule along with some solid profits.

Now onto my quest to Supernova. I've set my mind on reaching Supernova at around mid October after I realized how big of a difference it will make in terms of rakeback. Supernova gives a 30.8 % rakeback compare to platinum stars 22%, thats almost 9% more! It might not sound like its a lot but a 9% increase in my rakeback for my regular month would be around 250-300$, it's enough to pay for half of my rent! Anyways, I've earned close to 20k Vpp this month which put me at about 53k Vpps total for this year. In order to reach Supernova, I need 47k Vpps more by the end of the year. I'm going to work very hard during November and try to earned 27k Vpps so I can have some breathing room during December. In order to earn 27k Vpps playing the 180s I will need about 5000-6000 games so I will have no time to slack off, will work my ass off because it will well worth it when I hit that Supernova status with the Red stars =).

Overall it was a pretty fun month, JPeazy's friend Josh came in town to visit and stayed with us for the last week of October. He's trying out the real grinder lifestyle out here in Vegas just to see if he can make it and might decide to move out here with us next year, I'm looking forward to it and will need to start looking for a house with 3-4 bedrooms if Josh does decide to come back for good. It was also Snowman's birthday on the 30th so we celebrated it Vegas style by hitting the Clubs at the Palms, it was pretty crazy and everybody had a blast. I'm looking forward to another good month!

Gl at the tables ya'll.

SuperNova

The title pretty much says it all, I've decided to go for Supernova this year and WILL most definitely reach it. I started a thread on 2p2 just to motivate myself and keep myself on track. I'm 53k Vpp short with a little more than 2 months to go. Going to try to finish the month off strong by getting another 10k vpp or so before November so I can have some breathing room. The 30% rakeback would be really nice once I get those Red stars, will definitely help me with my expenses out here in Vegas.

Wake up call

To be honest, I'm pretty disappointed at myself. Once again I failed to reach my goals and have nobody to blame but myself. I kept setting these goals because I thought they will motivate me, but in reality, I gotta motivate myself. I'm glad that I decided to stay out here in Vegas on my own instead of going back home, it made me realize what a mess I am in life. I've not always been like this, I use to be pretty hardworking and follow through with my goals. I guess sometime during my college yrs I became lazy and unmotivated, which explains a lot.

No more setting goals and all that crap this month, I'm just gonna grind my ass off. Have a small prop bet with Vertek and Fried Liver on who can make the most profit in sng this month so hopefully I can take that down for some extra cheese. I started this month with strong volume and results and I will make it last. Shipped a small 16$ turbo mtt tonight so I was pretty happy about that. I haven't had a mtt win in a while so it felt really good, even though its just a small one. I'm pretty fortunate to have Jpeazy and Snowman living with me because they are both very discipline grinders, and it really helps me to grind in this environment.

Gl at the tables everyone.
